Valpoi: The temporary pedestrian bridge at Paikul village was swept away on Monday, due to the flooding of the Ragada river.
The Water Resources Department (WRD) had constructed a temporary footbridge with iron planks, for the convenience of the villagers, who were cut off from the mainland when the Paikul bridge collapsed during the rains in July last year.

The government had announced that a new bridge would be constructed at the cost of Rs 12.5 crore, and construction had already begun.
With the collapse of the temporary footbridge, the villagers of Paikul are once again cut off from the rest of the state.
