PONDA: Traffic on the Mollem- Belgaum highway came to a standstill for four hours after a massive landslide at Anmod Ghat blocked the arterial road at around 11 am on Monday. While heavy rain lashed vehicles stranded on either side of the landslide, personnel from the fire department worked to clear the debris on a war footing.
Officials said that the landslide had occurred due to the collapse of a large tree. A second mudslide was reported on the stretch, that covered the slippery ghat road with muck and debris.

Fire personnel from Ponda said vehicular movement resumed at around 3 pm.
