Delay in issuance of income certificates big hurdle for students’ admission

Some officials have dual postings at other Municipalities, which adds up to the inconvenience of the general public, especially the students and their parents

MARGAO: Margao locals have alleged that there is an excessive delay in issuing income certificates which is landing students into huge problem during their admission process in different educational institutions. 

Speaking to media, Savio Coutinho, Convenor, Shadow Council for Margao (SCM) said “Considering that this is the time for students to seek admissions to respective schools/colleges, any undue delay could cost the future of students very dearly.”

SCM claimed some officials have themselves fixed timings to process such applications, and by these self-imposed timings, they refrain from signing applications/certificates in the evening session.

Coutinho requested the Chief Officer of MMC Rohit Kadam to kindly look into this matter and ensure that the applicants are issued the necessary Income certificates in the least possible time. 

He further pointed out that even if any staff is absent, there should be a link official to process the applications; and that the absence of an official should not be a reason to apply brakes to the movement of the application’s.
