PANJIM: The construction of the ‘Smart Road’ under the Smart City Mission from the St Inez junction to the St Inez Church upto Branco junction, is encountering delays, leading to severe inconvenience to commuters, residents in Panjim, and those proceeding to Taleigao and Bhatulem.
Additionally, the Holy Week commemoration at the St Inez Church hangs in balance, as the road has not been completed. Despite efforts to accelerate the construction, various factors such as, encroachments, and community requests have hindered progress.
Sanjit Rodrigues, the Managing Director and CEO of IPSCDL (Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited), reassured the public that despite the setbacks, the project remains a priority. Rodrigues affirmed that the construction would be completed before the commencement of the Holy Week, demonstrating a commitment to timely delivery.
However, the delays in completing the St Inez road, has caused significant traffic snarls along Dayanand Bandodkar road on which traffic is diverted due to the closure of the St Inez road.
