On Monday afternoon, strong tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby cities due to a 5.6 magnitude earthquake striking Nepal once again, marking its second seismic event in three days. The National Centre for Seismology reported the epicenter of the quake as being 233 kilometers north of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.
The seismic activity triggered widespread panic among residents, with many persons in Delhi and the National Capital Region reporting significant shaking of furniture and desks. This recent quake follows a powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal last Friday, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 157 lives making it the most devastating earthquake since 2015.
Nepal’s geographical location places it within one of the world’s most active tectonic zones, making the nation highly susceptible to seismic activity, making the population particularly vulnerable to the impact of earthquakes.
