Delhi trio booked for ATM skimming

MAPUSA: The trio arrested in Calangute for opening fire on Delhi police, has now been booked for ATM skimming by the Calangute police.
The three accused – Vipin Sunil Dagar (24) and Praveen Surjay Dagar (23), both from Jharoda Kalan in New Delhi, and Ajay Kumar Ahlawat (22) from Jhajjar, Haryana were arrested from a restaurant on Wednesday by Calangute Police after a tip off from their Delhi counterparts. 
According to police, the three accused were involved in skimming of a Yes Bank ATM at Calangute.
Police said that one Lekhraj Mashelkar, a legal advisor for Hitachi Services, complained that the Yes Bank ATM located at Porbawado has been fixed with a skimmer. Accordingly, the police examined the CCTV footage of the ATM and found that the skimmer was fixed by the same accused.
Police have attached the skimmer device fixed to the ATM card reader and also got custody of the accused for interrogation. Police say that the accused confessed their involvement in tempering of ATM machine by fixing a skimmer.
Police conducted panchanama under Section 27 of Indian Evidence Act and recovered a Hyundai Cretaa cameras, two batteries and circuits which were used for setting the skimmer device.  
PI Jivba Dalvi informed that the accused fixed a bogus card reader on top of the real reader in the ATM, known as a skimmer device. The device then secretly swipes credit and debit card information when the customers slip their cards into the machines to pull out money. The skimmer device stores card data using an integrated magnetic stripe reader and also has an inbuilt hidden camera designed to record the PIN number. 
Police have registered an offence under Sections 420, 511 read with Section 34 of IPC.
The accused also confessed fixing skimmer in an Axis ATM machine in Panjim, as such, the Panjim police have been informed of the same.
