PANJIM: The Goa State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) has directed Delta Corp to undertake a detailed Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) study of its proposed Rs 3,000 crore integrated township project at Dhargalim in Pernem Taluka.
Delta Corp, which operates on shore and offshore casinos under the Deltin brand, said that the integrated township will be spread over 90 acre close to the vicinity of the Manohar International Airport at Mopa and will be ready by 2027.
During its meeting held on January 18, SEAC decided to grant Terms of Reference for conducting EIA for township and area development project.
The project proponent has to undertake assessment and impact study of land use under agriculture and environmental and social-ecological impact of the project.
The SEAC has also sought details of land acquisition, rehabilitation of communities or villages and environmental sensitive areas.
The project proponent has been asked to carry out ecology and biodiversity studies of the area. The project, the Authority has said, should have an energy plan as per environment clearance standards.
Baseline environment quality monitoring like air, noise, water and soil and prediction of incremental pollutant load due to project activity are among the studies the project proponent will have to carry out.
It has to also undertake detail traffic and transport and connectivity study.
The project is proposed to include three hotels, a convention centre, a multiplex cinema, a retail area, a water park, banquet facilities and a children’s entertainment area.
