Delta Corp says wait and see on FC Goa takeover

PANJIM: Amid rumours of Delta Corp taking over the reigns of FC Goa, a company official said nothing has been finalised yet.

“No decision has been taken. It is just in the air,” Delta Corp managing director Ashish Kapadia told Herald.
Reports said FC Goa owners wanted to sell 65 per cent of stakes to Delta Corp. However, the Delta official says it depends on the verdict of the ISL Regulatory Committee. “FC Goa has appealed against the fine and penalty with the committee, let that decision come first. We will decide later,” he said.
Reports said that FC Goa co-owner Shrinivas Dempo had remained tight-lipped about the takeover rumours. “I wish to offer no comments as we have filed an appeal before the committee on various penalties imposed on us. The order is expected on July 22,” Dempo said reacting to media reports.
FC Goa, runners-up of the second edition of Indian Super League, had run into trouble after they had boycotted the prize distribution ceremony following a verbal duel with Chennaiiyin FC captain Elano Blumer during the final.
Subsequently, FC Goa were slapped a Rs 11 crore fine and co-owners Dempo and Salgaocar were banned from the ISL for two and three seasons respectively. The team was also docked 15 points for ISL 3. The club, however, challenged the order before the ISL Regulatory committee.
The club had pointed out that the AIFF Appeals Committee had directed that status quo be maintained with regards the hearings before the ISL Regulatory Commission. The Committee heard FC Goa co-owners on June 9 and 10 in Mumbai and was supposed to give the verdict on July 14, which is now deferred to July 22.
