MARGAO: Most Margao councillors want the pre-monsoon works to be extended beyond the season. However, MMC Chief Officer, Rohit Kadam is yet to take a final decision on the request signed by 17 councillors.
The councillors are disappointed with the council’s failures in completing the pre-monsoon works, which commenced very late after the arrival of monsoons.
MMC Chairperson Lyndon Pereira said on the request of 17 councillors he has put a note for the Chief Officer to extend the pre-monsoon works by another 45 days, that means works of cleaning and clearing the drainages will continue till September.
“Councillors have complained that due to non-availability of labourers and on account of heavy rainfall these days, pre-monsoon works have remained incomplete. They want to extend the pre-monsoon works for more days”, he told Herald.
