Demand to restart Vasco-Collem passenger train grows

VASCO: A Social worker from New Vaddem takes up the issue citing that many people who are working in establishments and government offices from Vasco travel from far places in buses and starting this Vasco-Collem passenger train would give them relief.  

With the recent unlock 4.0 in the country many public services are coming back on the track. Similarly people working in the govt offices and other mega establishments in Vasco and residing at far places in South Goa have now demanded that the Vasco-Collem passenger train needs to be started as soon as possible.

Vinod Kinlekar, a New Vaddem based Social Worker, took up this issue. When contacted Kinlekar, he said that many of his friends and known officers working in Goa Shipyard, Navy, MPT, Electricity department and other establishments have been complaining about transport issue. People travel for work from Chandor, Sanvordem, Curchorem, Kalay, Margao and other places. 

He further said that the Vasco-Collem passenger train will benefit many and will be more economical including students who opt for the pass system as compared to other modes of transportation. 

Meanwhile, when contacted, SWR PRO (Hubbali division) Pranesh K N on telephone, he informed that the SWR has started some trains in phases since June. If people want the Vasco-Collem Passenger train to be restarted then they could write it to the Railway Board, Chief of SWR Huballi division and then we can expect any result.
