MARGAO: The Popular Front of India on Friday held a demonstration at the Margao Railway Station demanding a roll back in the railway fares. The Front has warned of sustained agitation if the government does not pay heed to the sentiments of the people.
Front spokesman Sheikh Muzaffar said the railway hike in passenger and freight fare will only hit the common man already reeling under inflation. “People of the country had been reeling under inflation for a long time now. This had forced the common man to vote for a new government. But, it is indeed sad that the new government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a decision which will only aggravate the situation of the common man”, he said.
President of the Sattari Jazrut Manch Vishwesh Prabhu has extended support to the agitation for the roll back in the rail fare hike. “The hike in the railway fare was indeed uncalled for. The decision has only burdened the common man”, he said, adding that the people will continue to protest against the unjust hike till the government roll back the decision.
