MARGAO: Various citizens of political parties and organisations on Thursday demonstrated at Margao in support of Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) that has been enacted by the Central Government.
Rashtrapremi Nagrik Samiti, Margao unit, has also written to the Centre through the Collector congratulating the government for enacting the Act.
Former MLA Damu Naik, Councillors Rupesh Mahatme and Jaffar Budhani, Sharmad Raiturkar, BJP South Goa Chief Sarvanand Bhagat and Nilesh Joshi of the Rashtrapremi Nagrik Margao and others were present at the demonstration.
Damu Naik said that he feels proud that the law has been enacted and also assured that they would come in much larger numbers if needed to show support.
When asked how he would counter the argument of those opposing the Act, Naik said, “The information of the Act has still not percolated into the society and it is being made out to be a bad Act by some vested interests.
He emphasised that it also is the duty of all Indians to become aware about the act through various media like mobile phones, news papers and other mass media where there is information and answers to all the queries.
Naik also appealed to the people to take to Twitter and read the matter published by Senior Counsel Harish Salve and the answers within.
