Dengue raises its ugly head again

55-year-old from Baina is suspected to have succumbed to dengue on Sunday

Vasco: A 55-year-old person from Baina on Sunday was suspected to have succumbed to dengue. 
According to the Chicalim Sub District Health Officer the deceased was admitted to Chicalim Sub Health centre on Saturday morning and was shifted to Goa Medical College Hospital on Sunday where he breathed his last.
Speaking to Herald, Chicalim Health Officer, Dr Rajendra Borkar said, “one H.Sheikh, aged 55 year and a resident of Baina was admitted to Chicalim Sub district Hospital on Saturday and was given medical treatment. He was later shifted to GMC on Sunday for further treatment where he he was suspected to be have succumbed to dengue,” said Dr Borkar.
Dr Borkar also said the deceased was NS1 positive which means ‘Suspected Dengue case’. Unless IGM anti-body test results come Dengue positive we cannot declare it as a dengue death case,” he claimed.
It may be recalled that a six-year-old boy from Vaddem, Vasco was last week admitted in the Chicalim sub district hospital for medical treatment after showing symptoms of dengue fever.
The boy was later referred to the Goa Medical College Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.  
There have been almost over 100 suspected Dengue cases  identified from Vasco area since the last two months out of which 12 were confirmed to be dengue cases.
