MARGAO: Social activists cried foul over the denial of permission by the police to take out a silent candlelight march in Colva on Saturday evening to raise awareness on issues plaguing the village and the recent incidents of goondagiri.
While blaming Colva Police station in-charge PI Uttam Raut Desai for raising objection to the rally on a “flimsy” ground that the route from Colva crossroads to the police station is within 500 meters from the house of accused who assaulted RTI activist Jowett D’Souza, Colva Civic and Consumer Forum secretary Judith Almeida demanded that the IGP take cognisance of their protest and act against the police inspector by removing him from the Colva police station. She demanded that the IGP post a police officer who is people friendly and one who will uphold the law at all times.
