Dense morning fog envelopes Panjim

Temperatures drop; dry weather and fog forecast for the next few days

PANJIM: A dense fog enveloped various parts of Goa, including Panjim, early Monday morning. Weather officials attributed this to the dry air that prevailed over the State with temperatures dropping to below normal.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa said that Panjim recorded a minimum temperature of 19.2 degrees Celsius.
“The weather is most likely to be dry over Goa in the next five days till December 31 and there will be a very dense fog in a few places over the same period,” IMD said.
Residents of Panjim, Taleigao and Bambolim said the fog was so thick that even the neighbouring buildings were practically invisible.
“We could not even see vehicles coming,” a Bambolim resident said.
“I have never seen such dense fog in Goa. I was coming home from a late night Christmas party and I could barely see anything in the dark. I think the temperatures dropped severely as it was very cold,” Taleigao resident Cruz D’Mello said.
There was also no incident reported due to the dense fog, though flight operations were disrupted.
India Meteorological Department  forecasts mainly clear skies for the next two days with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 32 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively.
Surprised with the fog, Taleigao resident Nilesh Sawant said, “This is the first time I remember such a dense fog.” As of now no formal weather warning has been issued for fishermen.
