MAPUSA: Chapora Boat Owners Association has urged the government to deploy police personnel, at the Chapora Jetty.
President Balbhim Malvankar claimed that the association is fed up of cleaning up of the jetty every day since some unknown persons use this open jetty as a party spot and to consume alcohol.
“These people not only party and consume alcohol but also litter the place by leaving the alcohol bottles at the spot along with plastic,” he said.
“We have also found broken bottles which we fear that may cause injuries to the fishermen or locals since now the fishing season is commenced.”
“We have written to the local police station requesting them to deploy staff at the jetty. Recently, our office premise was break opened and now littering of garbage and breaking of bottles has become an everyday nuisance. Bags of garbage are collected every day,” Malvankar added.
