Known to dodge media questions, Director General of Police Bhim Sain Bassi on Wednesday said the department cannot offer running commentary in the much-touted police-politician-drug nexus probe.
The high profile case is widely looked upon also because the nexus exposed the alleged links of Roy Naik, son of the Home Minister Ravi Naik.
“Don’t expect a running commentary of the case investigation…We are investigating the case and if we have anything to share with you (media) we will do it,” was his reply after a momentary pause to a question whether Goa police would summon Roy in connection with the same.
Bassi shut doors for further questions after turning down yet another question to comment on Roy’s recent briefing refusing allegations against him. “You see…you all don’t understand. We cannot give a running commentary …” he reiterated.
Investigating sleuth – Crime Branch is under severe criticism, both by the opposition and student’s wing who have accused the probe officials of sabotaging the nexus probe. The case that broke out in February with quick arrests of seven tainted police officials and two alleged drug dealers from Israel is now moving at a snail’s pace.
Lucky Farmhouse, jilted girlfriend of the recently bailed out alleged drug peddler Yaniv Benaim aka Atala in an interview claimed she is equipped with complete evidence to show that anti-narcotic men visited Atala in his house in Anjuna.
In her recent interview to an Israeli tabloid, the Swedish model further alleged Roy’s involvement in the drug nexus, which was flatly denied by Roy in a press briefing.
Recalling back to July 4 press briefing wherein DGP Bassi bragged his police force of successfully tracing and nabbing seven kidnappers, at police headquarters, ducked a question as to how his force failed to trace the former minister Mickky Pacheco in the Nadia Torrado death case. Pacheco, currently in police custody appeared before the police a week ago after the Supreme Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea.
