MARGAO: Disclosing plans to have a compact unit to treat mixed waste, Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai said such waste strewn at the black spots will be brought down to zero.
He said, “What happens within the Fomento plant is another story but my suggestion to MMC is to look at something that treats 10 to 15 tonnes of mixed waste coming to the black spots within its jurisdiction”.
“I have seen around Fatorda, even after all such efforts and hardships, garbage could be seen on the roads,” he said.
“Is raising bills of Rs 15 to 20 crore CSR?” Vijai asked.
He said, “We are planning to have a compact unit, which will not take more than 500 sq mts of land. It will treat mixed waste. We will have to look at pricing, servicing and track record of machinery. MMC has to look at its own obligation to avoid hardships to people”.
