VALPOI: A deranged man on Friday stoned a police vehicle and attacked constables when the latter had gone to Advoi, Sattari following a complaint of a fight between two brothers.
The police gave the name of the accused as Keshav Kunkolkar, who first attacked his brother with a koita and damaged the police vehicle GA-07-G-1637 and attacked constables who had gone to arrest him. After almost 90 minutes, the police arrested Kunkolkar and brought him to the police station.
Police said that since Thursday night, Kunkolkar was creating a nuisance in the village and on Friday morning he started moving in the village with a koita. The panicked villagers tried to stop him but he charged at them. When his brother Sanjeev tried to take away the weapon from him, the accused attacked and injured him. On getting the information, the police rushed to the spot but seeing the accused charging at them with a koita, the constables fled to safety. Taking this opportunity the accused damaged the police vehicle.
Later PI Prajyot Phadte along with additional policemen went to the spot and arrested the accused.
