MARGAO: Residents of Fatorda woke up on Monday to hear shocking news of desecration of a cross and statue of Our Lady of Vailankani alongside the road near the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda.
The incident is believed to have occurred last night and it came to light on Monday morning when a local resident found the cross damaged.
Cyrilo Castana told the media that he was heading to work when he was shocked to find the cross missing from the pedestal alongside the road.
The damaged cross was later found in the bushes. Moments later, realisation dawned that the miscreants had also damaged the statue of Our Lady of Vailankani, meters away from the cross.
The Margao police have registered a case of desecration against unknown persons.
