Desiltation work at Khandepar river begins

The desiltation work on Khandepar river basin near Khandepar bridge has commenced by WRD today. Locals said the river had flooded last year’s monsoon as debris and mud had been dumped into the river during construction of the new bridge.

According to Sandeep Parkar last year the Khandepar river witnessed major flooding due to which not only houses flooded and collapsed but also the National Highway at OPA junction was flooded due to which traffic was halted, and commuters and passengers were stranded along NH at Khandepar. He thanked Herald for highlighting and stressing on the need for desiltation of river basin.
