Despite Code, EC to allow tendering process, tours

Even as Election Code of Conduct will continue till May 16, Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to allow certain activities including initiating tendering process and tours of ministers, in States where polling has been completed.
According to a bulletin issued here, ECI has decided to allow certain activities in states where polling has been completed. The activities allowed by the ECI include tours of Minister to districts and accompaniment of officers on such tours and review and implementation of ongoing programmes in the field.
It also includes review with field officers, except for the officers who are on election duty, calling a review meeting of officers at headquarters, except for the officers who are on election duty and calling for bids, evaluation of bids, and finalization of bids and award of contracts.
