Despite sacrificing our agri land, no jobs for us at SGDH, complain Fatordekars

Claim that people from Sattari, Margao and other places secured employment in the South Goa District Hospital; allege that the local political leader failed to push for the demand to provide more jobs to Fatorda residents in the hospital

MARGAO: Venting out their anger for not being provided jobs at the South Goa District Hospital, the residents of Fatorda on Wednesday complained that injustice has been done to them as they claimed that people from Sattari, Margao and other places secured employment in the hospital, despite several farmers sacrificing their agricultural land for the project.

They appealed to the local politicians to give more stress to the issue instead of complaining against the government.  They complained that injustice has been done to the people of Fatorda with regards to jobs, despite several government offices operating from the constituency.

Milagres Fernandes opined that people from Sattari, Margao and other places have got jobs in the district hospital located in Fatorda but no jobs have been given to the locals despite several farmers sacrificing their agricultural land for the hospital project.

“Actually, the local political leader should have pushed for the demand to provide more jobs to Fatorda residents in the district hospital. However, he failed to do so,” he alleged.

Milagres said that nearly 60 residents of Margao also got jobs in the district hospital due to Margao MLA’s efforts, besides several people from Sattari have been working in the hospital, but no jobs for Fatordekars.

Remedious Fernandes, another citizen, said they feel ashamed that no preference has been given to the locals at the time of recruitment in the district hospital.

All major projects and government offices are located in Fatorda constituency, but locals did not benefit. The people’s representatives should have worked hard so that the locals earn their livelihood through these projects, especially the district hospital, as Fatordekars had high hopes of getting jobs here, he added.
