‘Develop app to make digital meters functional’

PANJIM: Reiterating its opposition to the fitment of digital meters and the GoaMiles App-based service, the All Goa Private Bus Owners Association on Friday demanded that the government should develop app to make meters functional.
AGPBOA General Secretary Sudip Tamhankar said that so far about 500 taxi operators have fitted digital meters to their vehicles and challenged the Transport Department to make public details of money reimbursed to these operators.
Tamhankar alleged that the government was protecting the GoaMiles App-based taxi service and demanded to know why the government had not challenged the stay obtained by the GoaMiles using counter at the airport. He said that the GoaMiles had to pay Rs 21.93 lakh to the Tourism Department and its was surprising that the firm obtained an ex-parte from the court.
He said that Goa Lokayukta had asked the State government to initiate an inquiry by a retired High Court Judge not below the rank of District Court Judge into the illegalities within two months. But till date the government had not initiated the inquiry.
