MARGAO: Stating that the development of Margao is his prime focus, Opposition Leader and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said he has tried his level best to ensure that every ward in his constituency gets all basic amenities.
“I am thankful to the residents of Margao, who have come forward to support the development and will remain indebted to them always,” said Kamat after commissioning 20 four-arm streetlight poles which have been installed at various locations in the town.
“Today, with the illumination of the 20 four-arm streetlights on the occasion of Diwali, Madgaonkars are celebrating “Deepotsav”, he said.
Local Councillors Dorris Texeira, Deepa Shirodkar, Avinash Shirodkar, former councillor Damodar Shirodkar, Dr Diwakar Lolienkar, Dr Deepak Lawande, Agnelo Fernandes, Shaikh Munna, Shivanand Rane, Mathew Fernandes, Suhas Pai Angle, Arun Prabhudessai, Sister Xaverita Fernandes, Sister Apolina, Headmistress of St Joseph Convent Sr Maria were also present.
“The residents and shop owners in Margao have always volunteered when it comes to development of the town. The CCTV cameras were recently recommissioned with the help of power connections provided by the locals and residents of Aquem who parted away with their land for road widening and many others gave part of their land for construction of drains. It is with the support of the locals that Margao is progressing,” Kamat said.
The four-arm streetlights were installed and commissioned at Aquem Power House, near ESI Hospital, Sirvodem, Colmorod, Pedda, Monte Hill, near District Library and other areas on the eve of Diwali.
