PONDA: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Surel Tilve on Monday claimed that development works in Ponda taluka halted as Ponda Muncipal Council (PMC ) councilors and panchayat members are busy playing musical chair for powers.
Tilve claimed that everyday newspapers carrying notices for removal of chairperson/ vice-chairperson of PMC and councillors are busy in electing new representatives. “Councillors are jumping from one party to another while Pondaites are facing lots of hardship in daily life,” said Tilve. Tilve reiterated issues like shortage of parking space in PMC jurisdiction, pothole-ridden roads due to slow progressing sewerage network work.
“There is garbage issue while most roads are in bad shape. The Ponda Market Complex is still incomplete and despite new project is ready the vendors are still conducting their business at temporary market place,” said Tilve.
He also claimed that in Ponda Market the local Goan vendors should get priority in selling locally produced goods.
When asked about vendors from Karnataka who come with loaded trucks of flowers during festival time to sell at Ponda Market, he said it’s not fair. “We need to strengthen Goan vendors,” said Tilve.
He also said that PMC should repair /renovate the Varkhandem crematorium either through its own fund or CSR fund.
