BICHOLIM: Thousands of devotees from the State and beyond will flock to Shirgao to participate in the famous five day zatrostsav of Shri Lairai Devasthan from Monday
The festival is famous for ‘Agnidivya’, a ritual of walking on the embers of the ‘Homkund’ a bed of embers.
The temple and its premises have been decorated with lights and hundreds of stalls have been set up from Assonora to Shirgao road. The area wears a festive look and archs have been erected at various places and homes painted too.
The ‘Homkund’ has been set and thousands of Dhonds who were fasting for the last five days will be gathering at the temple to perform the ritual.
Meanwhile, the primary school students from the area have started distributing paper bags made by them in order to bring awareness regarding plastic pollution.
