PANJIM: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has asked the Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh to conduct inquiry against Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Sagar Ekoskar and Superintendent of Police (SP), South, Abhishek Dhania for alleged misuse of power as complained by Floyd Coutinho of Margao.

Also SP Dhania and DySP Ekoskar have been asked to submit their reply into the complaint by February 6, 2023.

In September last year, Coutinho had filed a complaint before the Commission, against DySP Ekoskar and SP South Dhania, for alleged misuse of power, etc.

Meanwhile the Under Secretary-II, Home Department has asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to file reply in a complaint made by Coutinho to the Ministry or Home Affairs (MHA), New Delhi and sought action taken report to be submitted at the earliest.

It may be recalled Coutinho had alleged that police were trying to tarnish his name, harassing him by pasting notice on the door of his flat, issuing lookout notices at the airport to stop his entry into Goa when he is not involved in any offence and were trying to falsely implicate him in a case in which he is not involved. The same is being done due to personal grudge, he had alleged.

Coutinho had complained that he was called at the police station in connection with a case in which he was not involved and his statement was recorded as a witness.
