Panjim: On Tuesday, Director General of Police Jaspal Singh chaired the monthly crime review meeting, which was attended by Deputy Superintendents of Police and the Inspectors of various police stations across Goa, to assess and discuss the law-and-order situation in Goa.
The meeting gains importance against the backdrop of increasing crimes in the tourist state, which has kept the government and the police department on their toes. DGP Singh reportedly laid emphasis on the police stations which recorded major crimes over the past several months.
A police inspector who attended the meeting agreed that there is an acute staff shortage in police stations across Goa and said that the shortage will soon be addressed, as the meeting discussed measures to resolve the same.
While the state has witnessed a spike in road accidents, the DySP Traffic for South Goa, Dharmesh Angle has said that the rule of wearing seatbelts for drivers and passengers, including those in the rear seats, is mandatory, and the same will be enforced in letter and the spirit of the Motor Vehicle Act.
