PWD provides 4 water tankers after O Heraldo report

PONDA: The PWD on Thursday started the supply of water through four tankers to Sacorda villagers, while it is learnt that the panchayat has revoked the NOC granted to owner for frog ponds, based on which six ponds were illegally constructed.

Local villager Bipin Naik thanked O Heraldo for highlighting their issues. He said PWD failed to take immediate action to supply clean water from tankers till the matter got reported by the newspaper.

“Today they supplied water through tankers after media report. PWD will supply us tanker water for few days, but we want uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water. We want a permanent solution. There should be a good quality filter plant installed on Ragada River to supply us clean drinking water, similar to the Opa treatment plant. We will stress for this demand tomorrow,” Naik said.

Nilesh Mapari, another villager, said the government authorities failed to conduct immediate inspection of Ragada River, due to which people faced water crisis. Sham Pawar said government needs to clean the river.

“We faced lot of hardship due to polluted water,” Pawar said.
