Prominent citizens will gather at Lohia Maidan, Margao on Monday (January 13) as a part of the ongoing protests in the country as well as Goa against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and violence against students in various universities. Informing about the ‘dharna’, senior citizens said that freedom fighters and senior citizens as well as people from various walks of life will assemble at Lohia Maidan at 3 pm and sit on a ‘dharna’ demanding upholding of the secular fabric of the country and protection of the Constitution of India which is under threat due to the divisive legislations such as CAA. They informed that the dharna will also be a protest against the “frequent acts of terror perpetrated against students as happened in Jawaharlal Nehru University” recently. “If we consider students as the future of the nation, how can we break that future by acts of violence against them? Everyone needs to condemn it,” said a senior citizen inviting people to join the dharna.
