MARGAO: The Shadow Council for Margao has planned to hold a dharna in front of the municipal building to condemn the councillors for insisting on going for a study tour to Mount Abu.
Shadow Council member Savio Cutinho said that the citizens are deeply hurt by the “most deplorable behaviour of the councillors of at the council meeting held on Wednesday. The councillors were fighting for a ‘study tour’, at a time when the term of the council is expiring.”
“Their behaviour has confirmed that they have least concern about public sentiments and are only interested in merrymaking at the cost of the taxpayers,” he said.
He said that the citizens would hold a massive dharna in front of the council building if they councillors cause any expenditure to the public exchequer.
“Throughout the past four years we never experienced any councillor fighting with so much aggression over various issues plaguing the city,” he said.
He further said that he hoped that all the leaders, who are connected to the councillors, would guide and advise their flock to respect public opinion and refrain from causing undue expenses on the public exchequer.
