Dhavalikar’s song on defections goes viral; draws mixed reactions from netizens

PONDA: Power Minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar has turned into a  ‘Nightingale’ of Goa after his ‘melodious’ rendition of the famous Marathi song (Kunachya Khandyavar Konache Ojem) meaning ‘Whose burden on whose shoulders?’ went viral on social media drawing mixed reactions from netizens.

Sudin was apparently singing the song from the Marathi movie ‘Saamna’ and making indirect references to the eight Congress MLAs defecting to the BJP fold.

“I’m not directly referring to the eight Congress MLAs who have defected over to the BJP but just echoing the lines of the song,” said Sudin on being questioned by the media.

Netizens however reacted in different tunes to Sudin’s song.

“Sudin is really enjoying his song as he feels that heads might roll and some of his arch rivals may be dropped from the Cabinet and the new political turncoats may be rewarded with their portfolios. The ones who were earlier opposing him from being inducted into the Cabinet are perhaps spending sleepless nights with the fear of losing their portfolios could also be the reason for Sudin to sing and enjoy,” said Umesh Naik from Ponda as speculations are rife that the Damocles Sword hangs on Co-operation Minister Subhash Shirodkar, Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik and Sports Minister Govind Gaude, who are Sudin’s political rivals.

Amol Gaude feels that the addition of eight Congress MLAs into the BJP fold is now a burden on the party to reward defectors with either ministerial berths or Corporations.

“This is perhaps what makes Sudin sing and wonder as to who will stand to gain or lose in the game of numbers on the chessboard of the BJP since it is already crowded with 25 MLAs.”

Vishal Naik has something different to say. “Sudin has neither defected nor merged the MGP with the BJP despite political pressure and therefore has the right to speak and sing against defectors,” said Naik.
