PONDA: The locals of Dhavshirem-Tisk Usgao on Tuesday gheraoed the Assistant Engineer Rashmi Shirodkar at PWD water supply division office at Dag-Ponda over the acute water shortage since June 2018.
The local women brought to notice of AE that they are facing great hardships as the taps have run dry. Women brought to notice of the officials that earlier they were receiving the sufficient water between 5.45 pm to 9 pm but ever since the PWD water supply division office has changed the timing since June 2018 by releasing water between 9.30 pm to 10 pm, they are not receiving sufficient water supply for their daily requirement. They demanded that the water supply department revert back to its earlier time schedule.
Ulhas Satarkar informed that Dhavishrem Government School is also affected due to the acute water shortage as the students are forced to undergo hardship.
The local women threatened to launch an agitation along with 300 School students on PWD water supply division office at Dag-Ponda if the situation continues. The women have demanded a solution to the problem within eight days. Locals said despite OPA Water Treatment Plant, they are facing water shortage.
AE Rashmi Shirodkar listened to the grievances of locals and assured them that she will probe the matter and come out with a solution within two days.
Meanwhile, Shirodkar said the Water shortage problem of Wagurme locals has been solved. It may be recalled that Wagurme locals had launched an agitation few days ago over water shortage.
