DHE selects 30 budding talents as “Goa Scholars”

Under the Manohar Parrikar Goa Scholar Scheme Rs 8 lakh is provided to candidates for higher studies in India or USD 25,000 for studies in abroad

PANJIM: The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) has selected 30 budding talents as “Goa Scholars” under the Manohar Parrikar Goa Scholar Scheme for the academic year 2019-20. 

As per the press statement issued by the Board, out of the 109 students who applied for the scheme for the academic year 2019-20, 60 of them were short listed for the final interview by the Selection Committee chaired by Prof Gopal Mugeraya, Director, National Institute of Technology – Goa.

Under the scheme, Rs 8 lakh is provided to the candidate to pursue its higher studies in India or USD 25,000 for studies in abroad. 

The selected candidates are Saeel Pai, Sanjana Paraz, Sanchi Angle, Mugdha Khatavkar, Nadine D’Silva, Eshaan Sangodkar, Soham Tamba, Shalvi Kubal, Leon Leitao, Gargi Prabhugaonkar, Pavitra Bhade, Akash Vani, Pratish Prabhudessai, Niranjan Pandeshwar, Mavis Rodrigues, Anusha Naik, Marise Barbosa Noronha, Azfar Khoja, Vaishakhi Pilankar, Vaishnavi Kulkarni, Naomi D’Souza, Brendan Peroz, Shubham Prabhu Desai, Girish Sawant, Poorva Kher, Gandha Bhat, Neha Sangodkar, Santoshi Naik, Shobha Malkarnekar and Saurabh Chodankar. 

These students are from diverse areas like Mechanical/ Electronics / Electrical & Computer Engineering, Food science, Physics, Mathematics, Management, Cinema & Digital Media, Yoga Science, Medical Technology, Pharmaceutical, etc. 

The objective of the scheme is to identify and encourage young meritorious and outstanding scholars from Goa to pursue their post-graduate & doctoral studies at reputed universities and higher education institutions both in India and abroad.
