Dhond doesn’t rule out transfer

Awaiting letter from party leadership; could be asked to handle Konkan and Thane

PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary (organising) Satish Dhond has not ruled out the possibility of his transfer from Goa.
Speaking to Herald, Dhond said his transfer is likely but had not been confirmed as of late Friday night.
“I have not received any official correspondence from my party yet, but what has been in the news in the past few days about my transfer and new responsibilities will be confirmed tomorrow or the day after,” Dhond told Herald.
However, sources in the BJP confirmed that Dhond will be shifted and a crucial meeting of all organising secretaries was scheduled on Saturday at the Centre.
State BJP president Vinay Tendulkar maintained that nothing official has come from the central leadership which will be taking the decision.
“I have not yet received any notice from my party but I have been hearing from other party leaders that Dhond’s transfer is likely,” Tendulkar told Herald.
Sources in the BJP said that Dhond could be given the responsibility of the Konkan region and Thane where the party wants a tighter grip.
Dhond’s transfer from Goa comes in the wake of increasing complaints from MLAs and party leaders to the central leadership, especially after the party candidate’s defeat in the Bicholim Zilla Panchayat polls where it has been alleged that it was due to his interference that the party lost the seat.
Sources close to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that the CM has limited Dhond’s interference in the state administration and stopped him from working in Bicholim constituency.
