PANJIM: While Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said there were 35 new COVID-19 cases in the State, the Health Bulletin released by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), put the figure at 31, with confirmatory reports of five patients, who tested positive on the TrueNat test, awaited from Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC). According to DHS, nine persons tested positive for the virus on Monday.
In a late post on social media, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, however, put the total figure at 42. “#Goa’s count for COVID19 positive cases to touch 42. More confirmatory tests pending at #GMC. Fresh count includes cases from Nizamuddin train,” Rane said in a post on social media.
Earlier in the day, Rane had tweeted that Goa’s COVID count had touched the 36 mark. In a series of tweets, Rane said that 13 persons, who travelled to Goa by train, and one lady who arrived in the State on Sunday and was under institutional quarantine, had tested positive for coronavirus.
“Total active cases of coronavirus in the State are now at 36. Results of few samples sent to the virology lab for confirmation are still awaited,” the Minister had tweeted.
Sources had also confirmed that an industrial worker, who was brought in the State by Goa Small Industries Association (GSIA) and was in quarantine in Verna, tested positive during the TrueNat testing.
As per the bulletin issued by Directorate of Health Services, since January 29 there have been 38 people who have tested positive for COVID-19, of which 31 are active and seven have recovered. “Nine suspect cases tested positive on Monday,” the bulletin said.
Of these, four each have travelled by train from Delhi and Maharashtra, and one by road from Karnataka. “Currently, they are managed at ESI hospital (COVID), Margao. Their condition is stable,” the department said.
Also, the reports of 71 travellers are awaited, while 879 have tested negative. There are also four persons admitted in the GMC isolation award.
As many as 238 inter-State domestic travellers are under home quarantine and 174 under facility quarantine. Also, another 573 people are in institutional quarantine.
