DHS seeks St Inez Church help in containing vector-borne diseases

PANJIM: The Directorate of Health Services (DHS) has written to ST Inez Church requesting it to make announcements regarding vector borne diseases.

In a letter written to the Church, Dr Sunita Arlekar, Health Officer, Urban Health Centre, Panaji, has said,” In view of prevailing dengue and malaria cases in the city of Panaji, there is an urgent need to keep a strict vigil over the domestic like containers, bottles, coconut shells and peri domestic breeding sites in public and private places.

“Mosquito breeding takes place in stagnant water and to prevent this you are requested to conduct a dry day once a week in our vicinity. You are kindly requested to pass on this message to the public during mass so that through awareness we will control the mosquito and spread of vector-borne diseases,” she said.
