VASCO: All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee got warm welcome with huge fanfare of AITMC leaders and supporters on her arrival at the Goa Airport on Thursday on a two-day visit; her first since the formation of the Goa Trinamool Congress.
Some protestors showed black flags to her convoy outside the Goa Airport.
After her arrival at the Goa Airport at around 5.45pm a convoy of several cars was off to the International Centre in Dona Paula, where the majority of her programmes have been scheduled.
While the convoy was moving out of the airport, protestors belonging to the right wing, waiting outside the airport showed black flags, and chanted slogans of Jai Shri Ram
Interestingly, West Bengal CM waved back the protestors with a polite gesture of “Namaste” from a moving car.
The West Bengal Chief Minister’s schedule for Friday, released on Thursday evening, includes a meeting with party workers, an interaction with the fisherman’s community, a press conference, a visit to three temples in Ponda and an interaction with civil society members.
On Saturday at 11:30 am, Banerjee will visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus at Old Goa. At 12:10 she will visit the Mapusa market and then participate in a road show from Bodgeshwar temple, Gandhi Chowk, old Mapusa market, vegetable market and flower market.
Later, she will attend community reception at the Panjim municipal garden at 1:30 pm and then depart for Kolkata.
There are also reports that some high profile politicians including former MLAs and film stars might join the TMC during her visit to the State.
