Didi’s boys land in Goa, buzz of TMC in Goa poll fray intensifies

PANJIM: Derek O’Brien Rajya Sabha MP and spokesman of the TMC, known for his strong articulate speeches in Parliament, and former Indian football captain turned popular Lok Sabha MP Prasun Banerjee arrived in Goa on Thursday amidst a loud buzz of Didi’s party entering the poll fray in Goa and will go the whole hog.

O’Brien on arrival did not take his facemask off. Nor did he lift the mask on his sudden arrival, only saying, “Good afternoon. For today it’s just good afternoon.”

There are a growing number of reports in the mainstream media as well as social media about Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visiting Goa along with the head of IPAC Prashant Kishore the master poll strategist, who spearheaded the TMC Bengal campaign where the party triumphed against BJP in spite of its entire central leadership throwing its might into the Bengal campaign to oust Didi, as Mamata Banerjee is lovingly referred to by all in Bengal and outside.

Kishore’s IPAC team has been in Goa for a while for its usual pre-poll landscape study which it conducts in all poll bound States.

Digambar, Girish rush to Delhi
In a day of quick political developments, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat and State Congress chief Girish Chodankar air-dashed to New Delhi late Thursday evening, just hours after Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders landed in Goa.
Though the exact reasons for Kamat and Chodankar rushing to Delhi were not known, party sources said that both the leaders had been summoned to the national capital for discussions over the reports that some senior Congress leaders may be joining TMC.
After faring poorly in the 2012 Goa Assembly elections and 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the TMC is learnt to be gauging the mood and expectations of the Goan voters. TMC is keen in forging pre-poll alliances with some of the parties in a bid to open its account in the State.
