Says MoU has been finalised
PANJIM, SEPT 21
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat today said that the differences with the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) have been sorted out and the Memorandum of Understanding for the forthcoming International Film Festival of India has been finalized.
Speaking to Herald, after meeting the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni, Kamat said that he put forth the matter with the minister, who acceded to the demands.
“Whatever differences were there with regards to organisation of IFFI and the programmes, I put before Ms Soni, who was kind enough to accept all our demands,” Kamat said.
He added that Soni was of the view that there should not be any differences between ESG and the DFF.
“The minister wants to see a picture being created that both ESG and the DFF are working together for IFFI,” Kamat stated.
The chief minister also said that following the assurance by Ms Soni the MoU for the Forthcoming IFFI was also finalised.
Further, he said, in a bid to make the inaugural ceremony for the IFFI a grand function the ministry has decided to appoint a committee under the I & B secretary.
“The committee will prepare a list of the guests to be invited for the inaugural function,” he said.
Recently, Kamat had told reporters that the Union ministry snubbed the Goa government by virtually pushing out the state authorities from the organizational scheme of things for this year’s IFFI.
