DIG K K Vyas said SIT is probing Hede and others identified in the complaint filed by Mines department while clarifying that the closure report is precisely because it cannot investigate two cases of similar nature.
“As per the Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation Act, the department is the only legal authority whose cases can be accepted,” he told reporters.
Activist Sudip Tamhankar had complained against the former CMs, Hede and other mines officials in 2013, which was registered by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) and subsequently transferred to SIT. During the same time, the Mines department filed a similar complaint, supported by sufficient documents but did not name the politicians. “Since two complaints of same nature cannot be investigated, SIT closed the case filed by Tamhankar. The other FIR, lodged by the authorized agency – Mines department – is under investigation at present,” he said.
SIT has also filed a closure report in the case against Bagadiya Brothers Pvt Ltd. The complaint filed by mines department had alleged that the company had forged NOC to export iron ore.
SIT has found that the NOC was genuine, was issued by Mines Department and the correct royalty deposited.
