MARGAO: Appreciating the support he has received till date, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said it was now time to make Margao an ultra modern town that will be loved by all and asked the people to vote for candidates of the Margao Civic Alliance to make this ultra modern city a reality.

He dismissed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s attempts to take control of the council and pointed out that a party that does not even sanction funds to cremate the unclaimed bodies lying in the morgue has no moral right to promote a panel at the elections.

He reminded that Margao has always taken the lead in various movements that changed Goa. “Whether it was the liberation movement or the Konkani official language agitation or students’ movements or agitation for scrapping regional plan—all movements started in Margao and engulfed the entire State,” he said.

He claimed that Margao Municipal Council will also a movement to oust the BJP from the political hegemony in Goa and added that the other councils like Mapusa, Quepem, Sanguem and Mormugao, which are also going to polls will back the initiative taken by Margao.

While promising to fully empower the municipal councils as per the 74th Constitutional amendment, Digambar urged people to follow all norms while going to cast their votes tomorrow and blamed the chicanery of the BJP that is brought these elections amidst the peak of corona cases in Goa.
