PANJIM: The Congress Core Committee of the Margao Block Congress met a few days back and planned the campaign in support of the Congress candidate Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco.
On Saturday, Margao MLA and former chief minister Digambar Kamat kicked off a door-to-door campaign in Margao to garner support for Reginaldo. Kamat set out in the morning visiting houses of people in the Khareband area along with a large group of supporters and Congress workers. After campaigning the whole day they organized various corner meetings in Aquem and Sirvodem area that saw many people attending.
Speaking at the corner meeting, Kamat said that the party has given them a good candidate in the person of Reginaldo and that he is the best choice for the South Goa constituency. He said that Reginaldo is a sincere candidate and would surely raise the issues of Goans in Parliament.
Congress Minority Cell chief, Saifulla Khan said that all the Muslims should be united. He said the Muslims should not fall prey to the divisive tactics of the BJP. He urged all the Muslims to vote for the Congress, since it is the only party that has an inclusive policy and that cares for and works for the upliftment of their community.
Also present were Councillor Dorris Texeira, Goa Muslim Federation President Sheikh Iftikar, Anjuman High School Society member Ashraf Pandiya, social worker Munawar Khan, IYC Goa observer Uttkarsha Rupwate, Saidi Shaikh and Loyola Furtado.
