PANJIM: In a major revelation, BJP organisational secretary Satish Dhond, the party’s undisputed supremo in Goa, said that Congress MLA Digambar Kamat wanted to be chief minister in a BJP-led government.
Addressing workers in Panjim and in Mandrem, Dhond said the former chief minister has nothing to say, so he is now criticising BJP. “Digambar met the BJP national president last month at Delhi and said he was ready to join BJP if he is made CM,” Dhond said. He said since the BJP rejected his proposal Kamat is now upset.
Kamat had travelled to Delhi last month, giving rise to much speculation that he had been to meet BJP leaders in the National capital. He had rejected this and said that it had been a ‘business trip to Delhi’.
Dhond further said that with just a call or a whistle there are many Congressmen who are ready to join BJP.
On MGP, he said, the BJP has always been loyal to the alliance partner. “Even though we got 21 seats in 2012 we gave them two ministers. There was no need to do so but then CM Parrikar said we should respect coalition partners,” he said.
On the Dhavalikar brothers’ claim that BJP was against the Bahujan Samaj, he asked what MGP had done for the samaj. “In 2012 when two ministries were given why did they not give one to Lavoo Mamledar but kept both ministries in the family. Was it not injustice on bahujan samaj?” he asked.
