The inspection team was comprised of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, PWD chief architect, executive engineers, SGPDA member Secretary Shiv Kumar and members of the Muslim community.
Kamat and Vijai urged the SGPDA to issue a no objection certificate by early next week to develop the acquired land as burial ground.
In view of the fact that the acquired land has a steep gradient and will require terracing and construction of road, it was decided to develop the front portion of the acquired land for the kabrstan and take up the balance work in phase II.
Kamat said that, December 1, the PDA member secretary has been asked to issue to the NOC to the Town and Country Planning Department (TCP) under Section 17A to develop the land.
Sardesai criticised the government for the three-year delay on Kabrastan development.
The Muslim community members urged both the MLAs to complete development of the acquired land, since the situation at the existing Kabrastan in Pajifond had turned from bad to worse.
