PANJIM: The State government has extended the duration for inviting bids for digital fare meters in tourist taxis by 10 days.
The development comes after the High Court of Bombay at Goa on Monday allowed the government’s request for an extension and permitted it to open the bids till November 29. As on date, three firms have participated in it.
The court is hearing a petition filed by Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), supported by Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and other stakeholders alleging that the government was illegally and unconstitutionally keeping in abeyance the implementation of the decision for installation of meters and sought directions for its immediate enforcement.
