PONDA: Dilesh Gaonkar was elected sarpanch of Wadi-Talauli Panchayat, after the nomination of his rival was rejected.
According to information, the sarpanch’s post was vacant since December 11 last year after Bharti Naik resigned from the post in the seven-member panchayat.
Sources informed that though all the panchas are affiliated to MGP there was no consensus on the sarpanch’s post and was evident from the fact that there were two nominations filed. One nomination was from Dilesh Gaonkar, while the other was from Deputy Sarpanch Ramchandra Naik.
Naik’s nomination was rejected as there was no seconder and Gaonkar was declared elected as sarpanch.
