Dilip, Anwesha bag Sahitya Academy awards

MARGAO: Goan writers - Dilip Borkar and Anwesha Singbal have bagged this year’s prestigious Sahitya Academy awards in children’s literature and youth literature respectively.

MARGAO: Goan  writers – Dilip Borkar and Anwesha Singbal have bagged this year’s prestigious Sahitya Academy awards in children’s literature and youth literature respectively.
According to Konkani Advisory Board convenor Tanaji Halarnkar, the awards were finalised at the executive board meeting of Sahitya Academy held at Imphal, Manipur on Thursday morning. 
Borkar bagged the children’s literature award for his story book ‘Pintuchi Kallbhonvddi’, while Singbal was awarded for her poetry collection ‘Sulus’.
Dilip Borkar  has over 20 books to his credit, ranging between 8 children’s books, 5 dramas, 4 travelogues, 2 novels, 2 one-act plays and other literature. He was the recipient of Sahitya Academy Award in 1995.  Columnist and publisher – Borkar has been editing a Konkani magazine ‘Bimb’ for the last 10 years and played a leading role in the students’ movement in ’80s. He was one of the leaders of the historic official language agitation in late ’80s and was the president of Goa Konkani Academy for a brief period.
