Dilip Buildcon to construct revolving towers at Zuari bridge

PANJIM: Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Nilesh Cabral on Thursday said that Dilip Buildcon Ltd has won the tender to construct the revolving towers at Zuari Bridge.

“Dilip Buildcon has won the contract and now the file has been sent to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway,” Cabral told O Heraldo.

The PWD minister said a total of four bidders had participated in the bid where Dilip Buildcon was the highest bidder.

The project is to be taken up on a BOT (Build Operate Transfer) basis, he said.

Minister of Roads Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari had inaugurated the country’s second longest cable-stayed eight-lane Zuari Bridge in December last year. Also right-hand side (four-lane corridor) across the Zuari river and approaches from Bambolim to Verna were thrown open for vehicular traffic.

The Zuari Bridge work began in June 2016. The second section of the bridge is expected to be opened for public use by the end of this month. Cabral had assured in the monsoon session of the State Assembly that the project would be completed by December this year.

Meanwhile, Rajendra Singh Bhamboo Infra Private Limited has been awarded the contract to construct the six-lane elevated highway corridor at Porvorim.

As many as 16 companies had bid for the tender but Rajendra Singh Bhamboo Infra Private Limited won the bid as it quoted Rs 364.68 crore.

Cabral said now the matter has been sent to the Ministry of Transport and Highway (MoRTH), New Delhi, for approval.

The proposed elevated corridor will span 5.2-km, with entry points to be at Sangolda junction, near Ticlo petrol pump and the Neo-Majestic hotel.
